Real estate agent dies in freak accident falling from second-storey balcony
An adored real estate agent and fitness coach who fell to his death from a Brisbane balcony has been described as a “genuinely all round great guy” who had “everything to live for”.
When Matt King became locked outside on the balcony of his second-storey apartment in Brisbane’s Teneriffe last week, he attempted to climb over the ledge to the other side of the building and let himself in, the Courier Mail reported.
It’s understood the 29-year-old fell while trying to make his way around the corner apartment. His body was found on the grounds of the unit complex on Sunday, February 10.
A popular member of the Ray White team in New Farm, as well as a personal trainer at Orangetheory Ascot, Mr King was born in Canada and raised in New Zealand before setting up his life in Brisbane.
Ray White New Farm principal Haesley Cush told Yahoo7 News the whole team was “just absolutely devastated” to learn of his passing.
“Matt was a talented agent, was well loved by everyone in the team and was a genuinely all round great guy,” he said.
“It’s a terrible tragedy.”
Mr Cush described Mr King as a “citizen of the world” who had a huge impact on many lives and “everything to life for”.
“He was just so kind and caring, and people told him that regularly,” he said.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Matt’s family and friends and we want them to know they have the full support of the Ray White Group moving forward.”
Friends, family and colleagues farewelled Matt at a packed service in New Farm on Friday, while a second memorial will be held in Auckland this Saturday.
